Idaho Falls is set to dazzle residents and visitors alike with the third annual UTV Holiday Light Parade on Friday, December 19, starting at 7:00 PM.
The parade will commence at Freeman Park, embarking on a scenic journey along the east side of the Idaho Falls Riverwalk, reaching the Pancheri Bridge, and returning via the west side back to Freeman Park.
This new route aims to minimize traffic disruptions while offering picturesque views of the Snake River.
To ensure the safety of participants and spectators, several roadways and intersections will experience temporary closures and detours between approximately 6:30 PM and 9:30 PM.
Motorists should be aware of the following impacts:
Broadway Street westbound will be closed at Memorial Drive.
Broadway Street eastbound will be closed at River Parkway.
Adjustments to U.S. 20 eastbound lanes over John's Hole Bridge.
U.S. 20 eastbound off-ramp and westbound on-ramp at Fremont Avenue/Riverside Drive will be closed during the event.
Residents near Freeman Park may experience limited access as the parade passes.
While access to homes will be maintained, residents are advised to wait for breaks in the parade for entry or exit.
Notably, Pancheri Drive will remain open to vehicle traffic during the parade.
However, UTVs will travel along the adjacent sidewalk as part of the route.
Drivers in the vicinity should anticipate increased traffic and pedestrian activity.
They are urged to slow down, stay alert, follow posted signage, and avoid the area if not attending the parade or visiting local businesses.
The city appreciates the public's cooperation and patience during this festive event and looks forward to a joyful celebration.
